Working Hunter Rules
BSPS rules will be used as a guideline but the judges’ decision is final.
*Class 32 can be a rider with horse or a pony.
Each horse/rider combination may only enter one class and competitors may only ride one horse/pony in any one class.
A horse or pony may only compete once in any class.
A combination entering a novice class must not have been placed first more than twice at any club in previous seasons.
Riders must wear jodhpur or long boots (or equivalent); light coloured jodhpurs (cream or beige); tweed or hacking jacket; shirt with tie or stock; gloves; optional body protector; whip or show cane not to exceed 30” (75cm). No jewellery.
No change of bridle is allowed between phase one and two.
No boots bandages or protective pads allowed in the showing phase.
A suitable bridle with any noseband and running martingale if required are permitted but the judge will pay attention to their effectiveness.
Marking – jumps 50, style and manners whilst jumping 20, conformation freedom of action and type 20, manners 10, making a maximum total 100 points.
Penalties knock down 10, first refusal 15, second refusal 20, third refusal elimination, fall of horse and/or rider elimination.
Any rider who has been eliminated after a fall must leave the ring un-mounted.
