Sunday 25th May 2008

Come and have a go at our fun adaptation of TREC - the day is meant to be good for all ages and abilities - it's something new for you to all come and try. Help will be given a long the way and you can do as little or as much of the map reading as you wish. The orienteering will be run in the morning with people returning for lunch and then the other 2 stages in the afternoon.

The 3 stages consist of the following:
Orienteering - Hacking to all of us, with a bit of treasure hunting involved.  Approximately 12 miles
Control of paces - Slowest canter and fastest walk over a set distance of 100m
Obstacles - 10 Handy Pony type obstacles, ie: weaving, jump, rein back, stand, s/bend (the fence will be a maximum height of 2ft)

The aim of the day is to gain as many points as possible; the following gives an idea of how you acquire these;

    Marking your own map
Collecting the correct marker points along the way - incorrect markers will be put out to check that you have gone the correct way, this will be points deducted.
Questions along the way; ie names of farms
A speed has been set for the "orienteering stage" the closer you get the more marks you acquire
A speed has also been set for the "control of paces" the closer you are to these the more points you get.
Each obstacle with be worth 10 points if there is one you don't want to do you can miss this element out. Each obstacle will be marked on effectiveness of horse and rider.
All points will be added up and the rankings calculated for each class.
Individuals will collect points for all phases - pairs will only have one set of scores for the orienteering, but will have individual scores for the Paces and Obstacles.

There will be 2 classes:
Individuals £7.50 per person
OR
Pairs £14.00 per pair

Advanced entries only - times will be available the Thursday prior to the event.

Please call Stevie or David on 07791 414973 for further information.
