Dressage Rules

British Dressage Group (www.britishdressage.co.uk) rules will be used as a guideline but the judges’ decision is final.

Rider’s dress to be black, navy or tweed jacket; white, cream or beige jodhpurs; light coloured gloves; black or tan boots (seniors must wear long boots or equivalent); shirt, tie or stock.

Horse equipment to be snaffle bridle for dressage and any for the jumping; drop, cavesson or flash noseband; no martingales in the dressage; no artificial training aids for warm up; white, black or brown saddle cloth only; no boots, bandages or bit guards to be worn in the dressage arena.

When saluting, competitors must take the reins and whip, if carried, in the one hand. The free hand should be lowered to the rider’s side and the rider should nod the head.

Competitors must report to the steward 20 minutes before their test time and be ready to compete at the correct time. Failure to do so will result in elimination.
